The Essence of Equinox ~ 18 Sep 2020

The equinox is nearly here. Vernal for the Southern Hemisphere; Autumnal for the Northern Hemisphere. Regardless of ones position on the planet, the day of equal night is upon us. Regardless, of one’s position on Earth the amount of daylight and darkness evens out in what appears to be a cosmic balancing act mandated by the tilt of the Earth in space. In theory, a balance of Yin/Yang, systolic and diastolic, this and that, up and down, left and right promotes a moment of objective possibilities.

The equinox symbolizes a touch of the “it all comes out in the wash” mentality. Of course, that’s more true if objective considerations are applied by all. Still, and no matter how poorly or ideally the collective consciousness applies perceptions and insights in this moment, there is a shift of the background mood toward the more hopeful. While it’s still crazy out there and will continue to be so for a while longer, a hint of the light at the end of the tunnel is here.

As previous SkyScrapings have noted, there is more clearly defined optimism when Jupiter and Saturn align in Aquarius on the upcoming Solstice (21 December). Can’t wait that long? Things will feel a tad better when Jupiter conjoins Pluto in Capricorn on 13 November. Here it will feel that cosmic order reprimands the realm and principles of plutocracy. Can’t wait that long? How about grabbing the golden ring of optimism on the equinox next Tuesday?

As the Sun heads into Libra, the Moon transits Sagittarius. The Sun transits the Super-Galactic Center at this time. Although precise two days later, the effect feels full and fecund here. Notice the pulls and tugs you sense from people, places and things in life. What insists that you engage? Is that a good thing? Observe what captures your attention... inspires intrigue... offers you opportunities that you didn’t necessarily think you’d ever pursue. Then prepare to dive in at warp speed. Sure the Sun crosses the Super-Galactic Center every year at this time, opposes it six months later and in between forms two challenging squares half way in between to confirm your interests and proclivities every year.

However, this has not happened in any recent history with Jupiter, Saturn and Pluto in Capricorn all working squares to Eris in Aries, the bottom line of which demands that an individual’s capacity to flourish fully hinges upon their ability to find a perfect fit for the soul within ones skin. So, that’s what this round of the cosmic hokey-pokey is all about.

Wait! There’s more. On the equinox, but days away, Venus and Vesta (now astronomically considered a planet) conjoin in Leo. Brilliant! This on the heels of the discovery that phosphine, a biosignature gas, detected in Venus’ atmosphere could be a sign of life on our neighboring planet. While the physical environment of Venus requires more than an N-95 mask for successful habitation, let’s concern ourselves with the more symbolic renderings of Venus and Vesta.

Consider Venus as the one who recognizes and reveres all non tangible assets... you know, skills, talents, funky attributes, hidden qualities... as much as she does the countable physical stuff. Vesta, one of the respected vestal virgins (who could own property and have a say in legislative matters), is charged as keeper of the hearth. She is responsible for keeping the flame alive. Consider this the pilot light at the base of the spine that fires up the chakras and helps a body spin out a magnificent aura. She works as the flint of all matters relating to fecundity.

Consider as a supportive astrological agenda that Saturn in his own sign of Capricorn performs double duty as the cosmic timekeeper. Saturn despises procrastination. While allegedly rendering delays upon a person’s life, truly it is more a matter of punctuating all deeds deemed essential that have not been done in a timely manner. “Do it when it must be done” works well as bumper sticker on the planet Saturn.

So to honor Saturn and to offer proper respect for the grand goddesses convening in Leo, clean the hearth - whether an action you can take in real life or a symbolic dumping of all things that impede the inner fire from flaming fully. Now, in the waning days of Virgo, it’s a great idea for such soulful housekeeping.

Then inventory what you’ve got going for you. Focus on those things that tug at you from your peripheral awareness and remind you that just because you easily play the violin by ear, it doesn’t mean being a virtuoso is simple. All of it. Everything, whether you think of it as an attribute or not. Then, do what you can do. Cultivate your interests into talent. Bring everything you’ve got to the table.

Yes, it’s been a year of shutdown, isolation and involuntary servitude to the keeper of the clock. That was then. Things are now trickling forward, according to the planets. Use the equinox in a manner decidedly Leo: Enter the room sporting all your wares and then: Ta-dah! Ta-dah!

Everything... every single thing... that you know to be true about you deserves to be part of the place setting where you sit at the table of life. Should you feel a bit of disequilibrium in accepting all your assets, take a moment to stabilize and get your legs underneath you. Then, walk in the balance that you are.

More soon.
